Never Kayaked Before?

Canoeing (the umbrella kayaking comes under) is the UK's #1 Watersport and has been for the last 5 years.

Whether you're an ‘adrenaline junkie', a ‘soul boater', fiercely competitive or just enjoy a good view with no one else around and a cup of tea, kayaking is a bow you should add to your quiver.

A friend of mine who power kites has since become a kayaker and agrees that kayaking is a 'whole hobby', not something you might do three days a year when the tide / wind / sun all come out in the right quantities.

A beginner's session would go a little something like this:

This would take about 90 mins in total.

Goals of session

By the end of the session you will have been shown how to paddle forwards, backwards and turn around. If you pick those up quickly there are many other things to learn.

Games

Games could include the dreaded boat swap (it will get wet!), dodge ball, bull dog or any other game we can come up with.

Requirements

The only pre-requisites are that participants be water confident. That is; not frightened by the thought of floating around in the water for a minute while their boat is being emptied and with the ability to swim at least 50 meters unaided.

If you are a weak swimmer, a two man boat can be arranged with prior notice. Please use the contact form here.
