About Us
My name is Anthony Hodson and I am Head Coach. I began kayaking 14 years ago. I am a British Canoe Union (BCU) coach with several years teaching experience. I was also president of a Kayak club I co-founded near Seattle in Washington, USA .
I have experience at some of the kayaking meccas around the world (Skookumchuck tidal rapid, Sherperton weir, hawaii sur rhone) as well as many rivers around the UK; Trent, Treweryn, Oinwen, Llugwy, Dulas, Twymyn, Teifi, Rheidol, Ystwyth, Dee, Dart and the Thames to name but a few.
I frequently enjoy three areas of the sport:
- Surf kayaking; using a waveski-like kayak with fins to carve across the face of waves.
- River running / creeking; making my way down a river, often over waterfalls and other obstacles.
- Playboating; Performing radical maneuvers in dynamic river features, some of these result in the boat leaving the water entirely.
Qualifications:
- BCU level Three Kayak coach
- Rescue Emergency Care (REC) first aid
- Rescue 3's Swift Water River Rescue
- 4* personal inland kayaking award
- 5* personal inland kayaking trainee
- Being a BCU qualified coach, I am covered by their liability insurance.
Fully Mobile
The business operates out of a converted ambulance.
It acts as a changing room and also a warm place to discuss the session.

Dolphins In Aberystwyth
On the 31st of July Dolphins were spotted off the coast of Aberystwyth, Unfortunately my camera was not to hand but we paddled towards them (myself and two paddlers) and were treated to the spectacle of a mother and calf dolphin about ten feet away from us!
